An American in Paris : San Diego Civic Theatre

Posted on: September 6th, 2017 by Kate Hamernik

An American in ParisThe 2017 – 2018 season of Broadway in San Diego kicked off this week with An American in Paris. Opening night of An American in Paris was perfection.  A friend and I were lucky enough to sit right in the front row. We have been attending the San Diego Civic Theatre for decades and it is always such a treat.  It runs now through September 10th.

Theater can be a splurge for sure. Theater is often a special occasion date for us that we save up for, but we have also found some very San Diego Deals and Steals approved discounts.  My hottest tip is to watch for RUSH tickets the day of the performance. Make sure to follow San Diego Broadway on Facebook for announcements of RUSH tickets.  Tickets are typically $25 – $35 which is kind of a steal for such a special night out!

playbill

“AN AMERICAN IN PARIS is the new Tony Award®-winning musical about an American soldier, a mysterious French girl, and an indomitable European city, each yearning for a new beginning in the aftermath of war.

Acclaimed director/choreographer and 2015 Tony Award®-winner Christopher Wheeldon brings the magic and romance of Paris into perfect harmony with unforgettable songs from George and Ira Gershwin in the show that earned more awards than any other musical in the 2015 season!

The New York Times raves, “AN AMERICAN IN PARIS is a triumph! Pure joy!” and the Wall Street Journal declares, “Once you’ve seen it, you’ll find it hard to settle for less ever again.” Don’t miss this stunning Broadway hit when it arrives in San Diego on its first national tour!

Rating: Ages 8 and up.”

We are thrilled that the season is just getting started! Make sure to check out all the shows coming up! This year my husband actually bought season tickets for the first time for our anniversary.  If you are as excited about Hamilton as we are, you should know season tickets will include a seat in the room where it happens. Check out San Diego Broadway Season ticket options for your family!
