San Diego Vacation Bible School list 2017

Posted on: March 17th, 2017 by

vacation bible school san diego

We have a little tradition on San Diego Deals and Steals to always curate a list of free and inexpensive Vacation Bible Schools in San Diego.  If you represent a San Diego (any county!) Church and would like to list your church’s VBS for FREE, please message us!  If you are looking for VBS in San Diego, you have come to the right place!  Our list always tends to list more North County Vacation Bible School options, but we would love to include more, please do not hesitate to message us with links for other options.

The San Diego Deals and Steals Vacation Bible School list will continue to be updated as we get closer to summer.  Make sure to bookmark this page and share it with others! Many churches have not updated their websites with VBS options yet, but they are coming. I wanted to get the list started because people were already asking.  This list will grow!

Each Vacation Bible School is run differently.  Most of these churches I have never attended.  San Diego Deals and Steals is just sharing the links and dates so each family can research on their own. Vacation Bible School is faith based. Some of the following camps are free, some do have a fee.  Many offer a discounted rate if a parent is willing to volunteer.  Camp is typically half day in the morning or evening. Please check the links below for times and locations.

Our family VBS because they are budget friendly and we love the lessons they learn.  Kids typically receive a free tshirt, snacks, crafts, and more while at camp.  We have met life long friends at VBS and enjoyed personal growth and sweet memories.  I love that I have a few hours in the morning to do my own thing! We typically enjoy at least two VBS camps each summer.  We have noticed a vast difference from one camp to the other.  Some churches have larger budgets than others, but we appreciate them all!  Remember most are run with donations and by volunteers so make sure to smile when you drop off!

Each Thursday, from 3pm – 7:30pm the North Park Farmers Market is bustling with vendors offering locally grown veggies, prepared foods, arts and crafts, fresh flowers… You may also meet chefs from local restaurants, and enjoy live music. Find the Farmer’s Market at 3000 North Park Way (between 30th Street & Utah).

Ray at Night is a monthly art walk held on the second Saturday of each month from 6pm to 10pm. This free monthly gathering encompasses all that North Park has become known for: great food, awesome art, talented artists, amazing music, and friendly neighbors. Ray at Night takes over the 3000 block of Ray Street, just south of University Ave. It is perfect for date night, or a fun family outing to break up the mid-week grind.

Finding events in City Heights has been challenging. I must admit, that I have lived in the neighborhood for four years, and until I started writing this blog entry, I did not realize that we leave our neighborhood quite a bit for family friendly activities. So, I am now challenging myself to find free, or inexpensive events and activities right here in my neighborhood. I love that City Heights is diverse and a true melting pot of cultures. The face of City Heights is changing daily, and it is exciting to be a part of it!

The City Heights/Weingart Library hosts Baby and Toddler Story Time. Every Friday in February, 11am to 11:30am. Babies 0-18 months, and Toddlers 18-36 months. Call 619-641-6100 for more details.

city heights farmers market

Do you have a little mechanic at home? Bikes del Pueblo is a collective that provides tools and assistance with basic do-it-yourself bicycle repairs. This non-profit is run by community volunteers, and does not charge for repairs or services, but they do accept donations to keep them up and running. Check them out on Saturdays 9am-12:30pm at the City Heights Farmers Market, and on Wednesdays and Fridays at the PopUp Lot at the corner of El Cajon Blvd. and Central Avenue.

Who knew about City Farmers Nursery?! With the slogan “A little bit of country in the heart of the city”, this gem is San Diego’s largest organically maintained nursery, they have animals that you can visit, and often hold classes on everything from beekeeping to gardening. If you are looking for unique gardening products, or simply some free growing advice, give City Farmer’s Nursery a visit! Located at 3110 Euclid Ave, San Diego, CA 92105. Open Tuesday – Sunday 9am to 5pm. 619-284-6358

If you know of any family events taking place in North Park or City Heights, send me a quick note! I would love to check it out and spread the word!

faux pas of a single mom blog

I am beyond thrilled to be guest writing on San Diego Deals and Steals. I have been following Kate and her beautiful family for a few years, and started blogging publicly last year. I am not an expert at anything, so when I decided to start a blog I knew that it would be based on what I do know: My life as a single mom. My intention is to write short blog entries about what me and the kids are going through, snippets of our crazy life; in hopes that mom’s like me will come across Faux Pas of a Single Mom, know that they are not alone, and through all of this we can laugh! Everything will be OK!

I am mom to two rad big kiddos, Averyelle 21, and Sumo 13, and two doggies Sparky Love, and Rocky Wrinkles (yes, my dogs have last names). I pay the bills as an Account Manager for a large pharmacy benefits management company, and drive Lyft a few hours a week. On my spare time I love to write, attempt to crochet (newest hobby), volunteer with Baja Animal Sanctuary, and daydream about owning a children’s boutique someday. It is a pleasure to meet you!! –Sabrina

Awesome LivingSocial discount code alert!

livingsocial code

Who is planning on trying to save money is 2017?  We personally try to revisit daily deal sites regularly. If you use daily deal sites on things you typically buy anyway, it saves so much money! LivingSocial and other daily deal sites average about 50% off or more. Buying certificates for haircuts, oil changes, and even Starbucks cards at 50% off really helps us stretch our budget.  I always keep my eyes open for bonus discount codes to make the deal even sweeter.  Right now there is an awesome discount code for an additional $5 off a $25 purchase. This two day sale expires soon so don’t delay!

Use the code SAVE5 when you check out of LivingSocial right now and save a bonus 20% (on top of the already incredible savings!).  This can be applied to any deal – camps for the kids, dinner out for you, even flowers for Valentine’s day (feel free to forward to your sweetheart).

We scooped up a great deal for date night! What would you purchase? Remember use the code SAVE5 for a great bonus!

Please check out LivingSocial for any other information and exclusions.
