San Diego Restaurant Week is coming up and we are so excited! Mr. Deals & Steals and I love fine dining, and San Diego Restaurant Week allows us to check out so many amazing San Diego restaurants at a great discount!
Mark your calendars – September 16th – 21st! You can enjoy two course lunches for a fixed price of $10, $15, or $20 – or three course dinners for $20, $30, $40 per person – check out the site for all the restaurant choices! Seating is limited and you do need to make a San Diego Restaurant Week reservations, so make a reservation ASAP!
Last night we got to double date with two of our besties (Hi B & K! *waves*) enjoyed sampling just about everything on the San Diego Restaurant Week menu for Del Mar Rendezvous. Del Mar Rendezvous is perfect for a night out with friends or as a date night! Located in the heart of Del Mar, this Asian fusion restaurant is really fun and different. We are always excited to try the new menu items each time we come in and this trip was just as delightful! Del Mar Rendezvous does some extra fun stuff for SDRW – for starters – they start early and end late! You can enjoy their special menu from September 8 – September 30!
You can also get there a little early and check out their “$6 before 6″ bonus menu. There are a few upgrade options to the menu if you would like for an additional $12 (Chilean Sea Bass and Mongolian Rack of Lamb are a couple of the choices) – this is still an awesome deal BUT if you get there before six you can enjoy this upgrade for only $6!
Another fun deal! ALL who attend Del Mar Rendezvous will get a $30 credit code for Uber – a very cool app that brings a town car right to you! This is a great freebie for those who live close by and a great discount on a service you might want to try anyway if you are far away. Please check out their pricing, this is an awesome service, but not exactly a ‘steal’ – this is a luxury service – the cars are beautiful, the drivers are safe, prompt, and courteous, but it is not in a price point we could afford (just being honest). I know we have readers who live closer to DMR who would have a much less expensive trip, and I know many have fatter wallets than us – so it is a cool new service certainly worth checking out for many!
So I wanted to share a few pictures of our dinner (don’t be jealous – this can all be yours too during San Diego Restaurant Week AND we are having a QUICK giveaway below – so you could win a night out for FREE!)
Sesame Crusted Seared Ahi – our all time favorite and the first thing we always order!
The Mongolian Rack of Lamb was so delicious – this was everyone’s favorite!
If you want to try something new – I HIGHLY suggest the Three-Cup Chicken – it is not exactly a pretty dish, but it is a delicious traditional Taiwanese dish that is only brought out for Restaurant Week -if you like garlic this is the dish for you! (so good!)
Some of our favorite people and some of the fantastic spread – Walnut Shrimp, Seafood XO, that Mongolian Rack of Lamb we talked about, and Five Spice Braised Beef – all served with brown rice (you can also choose white) and all kinds of yummy sauces.
Just proof that we were there too – and that we clean up OK!
The Steamed Dumpling Sampler was another delicious appetizer and I should mention Del Mar Rendezvous also has an awesome Happy Hour! We will share more about that in a later post – but ask about it when you go in! We enjoyed wine pairing chosen by the staff to compliment our meals – it was a great selection and they offer a sweet deal during Happy Hour on that as well! (this looks like we drank a lot, we didn’t really – AND we had a driver from Uber)
OK – a couple more pics – here was our dessert!
Mango Sorbet – a fresh mango shell filled with sorbet and topped with powdered sugar, whipped cream, and raspberry sauce.
Cinnamon Banana Eggroll – banana cheesecake wrapped in a cinnamon pastry and topped w powdered sugar, whipped cream, caramel, and chocolate sauce – this was so good I ordered one to bring home for the babysitter (AKA Grandma Deals and Steals)
Last but not least – Mile High Mud Pie – mocha almond fudge ice cream, chocolate cookie crust, whipped cream, powdered sugar, caramel, and chocolate sauce.
I’ve said it before, I will say it again – we are not restaurant critics, just a family in San Diego who loves to share our dining highlights with our readers!

I find it really questionable that you got a free meal, yet you are entering all of the other local food bloggers’ giveaways to win another meal for 2. Why not return to the restaurant as a paying patron and let someone else try it for free?
I didn’t get a free meal – I worked very hard and promoted the restaurant. I never intend to win – I was trying to interact with the other bloggers that were part of the ‘campaign’. I shared every person’s write up via twitter and facebook – I have an excellent relationship with DMR and could visit anytime and have been there as paying customers. I am sorry if you were upset by my attempt to connect with others.
