Graco SnugRide Click Connect 40 – infants – age 2 car seat – sponsored post

by Kate  on: October 21st, 2012

Many of you know Baby C celebrated her first birthday a few months back.  Our older kids are six years old and a lot has changed since they were babies.  Back then, we were advised to keep our kids rear facing until they were one year old, which of course we did.

Now, this is still the law, but the advice is to keep them rear facing until the age of two.  I must admit, there was a debate going on in our house that went a little something like this…….

“So when are we turning C around?” Mr. Deals and Steals

“Um, when it is safe to.” Me

“Um, she is one and it would be way more fun for her to turn around.” Mr.

“Yeah, but they say it is better to wait until she is two.” Me

“Who is ‘they’ and do ‘they’ know she is already heavier and taller than both the big kids when we turned them around? They don’t have any neck problems so it is probably OK.” Mr.

Don’t judge Mr. Deals & Steals too harshly.  I honestly didn’t have a good answer, but we kept her rear facing so that I could do some research.  Well – wouldn’t you know – just a couple weeks after this conversation I was invited to a Graco Safety house party where I learned exactly why ‘they’ (The American Academy of Pediatrics) advise keeping babies rear facing until 2 years old.

(This is the actual car seat we all brought home.  Now I know that cuteness really should not weigh that heavily when it comes to decision making on car seats……… but they are top rated in safety, moderately priced, AND so stylish – gotta love that!)

We are familiar with Graco SnugRide.  We had chosen this brand of car seat when we first brought her home, but the Click Connect 40 was a totally new concept – oh how I wish we had this beautiful car seat from the beginning!  Here are some quick facts that make it unique and awesome!

  • 4 – 4o lbs weight limit – up to 2 years old!
  • Base adjusts with 8 recline positions for the most leg room of any rear facing car seat. (the argument is always that the kiddo’s growing legs are crunched up in other car seats.  This is genius!)
  • The Simply Safe Adjust harness system allows parents to adjust the headrest & harness easily without having to rethread (seriously – I tried it out at the party – so easy!)
  • Click Connect attachment clicks right into a click connect stroller safely!

Here is a fun video that shows you how it works.  Seriously – watch it – even Mr. Deals & Steals oohed & ahhed……..

We are not planning on any more little bitty babies coming into our family, but if they do – this is absolutely the car seat for us!  If you are expecting; seriously check out this car seat!  If you know someone who is expecting please forward them this article.  I researched several other car seats before the party and after holding and using the Graco SnugRide Click Connect 40 – in my opinion – price, safety rating, comfort for the baby, and just plain cuteness it is the obvious choice.

The Graco SnugRide® Click Connect™ 40 – the first and only newborn to two-year infant car seat that actually grows with your baby from four pounds all the way up to 40 pounds. The car seat is designed for a parent on the go. The infant car seat can be easily removed from the base and used as a carrier when the infant is small, providing portability and convenience so you can easily move your infant in and out of the car without disturbing them.

The American Academy of Pediatrics recently made the recommendation to keep all children in rear-facing car seats until the age of 2. Graco set out to make this product so parents can keep infants rear facing longer while still keeping them comfortable.

Since it has more leg room (which is great), does it fit rear facing in most cars? That has been a problem for us in the past.

    • Kate says:

the snug ride takes up less space in the seat which is great for us since we have a midsized car and both of our big kids are still in boosters. We put her in the middle so nobody looses any leg room. It also fits in my husband’s smaller car too – again, I think the middle seat is best =-)

  2. Suzanne says:

Does it cause the persons siting in the seat in front of it to lose legroom? From the video, it looks like as the kid grows, the seat in front needs to move forward to allow room.

    • Kate says:

It does move back some but it is more up and back so it is not as dramatic as it looks. That being said – we put our littlest in the middle of our two big kids so it doesn’t matter much to us. Others at the party who have their baby on the side had the same concerns but said that it seemed to be comparable to other larger rear facing carseats. You can actually check them out in person at Babies R Us to see – long answer sorry! Yes a little leg room is lost if the kiddo is in the side back seats, but not as much as it may look like since it goes up and back not just straight back =-)

  3. LOVE this post! My husband and I have been looking for a car for baby L that will grow with him and I think this might be it! Sigh, too bad we can’t put him in the Mena print one because that one is just too cute! Let’s petition that they make cuter prints for boys!

    • Kate says:

oh! did you see they have a cute boy and a cute ‘unisex’ one too – but the Mena is the cutest for sure ;-)
