The LEGOLAND Hotel at the LEGOLAND Resort in Carlsbad California is officially open for your SoCal family vacation!

LEGOLAND Hotel California

LEGOLAND Hotel Grand Opening

From the moment we drove up we knew we were somewhere very special!   The big kids LOVED the smoke breathing dragon who greets all the weary travelers and the lobby you step into is just about the cutest thing on the planet…..

Reception Desk Legoland Hotel
Check out the reception desk!   Those tiny dots behind the bike….. those are all tiny LEGO action figures!   The bike wheels are magnifier glass! Seriously – who comes up with this stuff?!

Our kids were SO excited about the swimming pool!   The air was very crisp the day we stayed so nobody else was in the pool!   The pool itself is kept at just above 80 degrees year round!   Make sure to bring your swim suit no matter what time of year you plan your visit!   Our family really appreciated the gradual walk in entry of the pool instead of steps.   This way our littlest could just get her feet wet at the very front of the pool and the big kids said “Mommy! It’s like when you walk in the beach!” Towels are provided at the pool and there are dozens of chairs and cabanas for parents to sit comfortably while supervising.

Family Friendly Vacation

Bricks Family Restaurant was also a HUGE hit with our family!   Bricks is located right inside the hotel and of course has LEGO touches throughout.   Costumed Characters are often available for pictures and a few strolled through the restaurant to let us know about upcoming entertainment later that evening.   Bricks is a buffet restaurant so kids and adults can pick what they like.   We were pleasantly surprised to find that there were LOTS of healthy options available in addition to classic buffet choices!

LEGO Costumed Characters

Our kids of course enjoyed macaroni and cheese and chicken strips, but they also had a veggie and dip cup (it included carrots, yellow squash, red peppers, and asparagus!), a melon cup, and a fresh berries cup!

Healthy Dining Options at Bricks Restaurant Legoland Hotel

While there is a beverage station with many soda, juice, and milk options – we really liked that there were individual Horizon Milk and Honest Kids pouches available right at the kid’s level buffet station.   We personally try to avoid regular juice for the kids and having Honest Kids pouches was AWESOME – they got a ‘juice’ treat…. and I know it is filtered with water and the juice used is organic!   We also are trying to make as many organic options available to our family as possible at home, so having organic milk as an option while at Bricks at no additional cost was a special treat for us as parents!

Legoland Dining

Mr. Deals & Steals especially enjoyed the carne asada and enchilada and I really liked the salad options!

One really fun touch is that all the tables have themed coloring pages paper table cloths!   Kids get crayons and can color adorable LEGO figures while waiting or just taking a break between bites.   This was a really a great way especially for my son to decompress after a very exciting day!

Our whole family was totally impressed by the HUGE Pirate Ship / Castle indoor play area in the hotel lobby!   The kids had a great time constructing creative projects with the jillions of   LEGO bricks in the LEGO moat!   My son could not get enough of pretending he was a pirate and then a knight and pointing out all of the cool details in the play structure!

At one point Daddy was sentenced to LEGO jail.   He is currently out on appeal…… I will keep you posted.

LEGOLAND Hotel is unlike anything I have ever seen!   Our kids especially loved every moment of our trip from the moment we stepped out of the car until we packed it up to make our way home.   It is apparent to anyone that the LEGO team took great care at making every detail magical!   If you are looking to splurge on a vacation your children (and you!) will never forget – LEGOLAND Hotel and Resort should really be at the top of your list!

To answer a few reader’s questions –

  • Yes!   There is a military discount!   Check out your base ticket office for details!
  • Sorry!   You cannot check out the hotel lobby, restaurant, and lounge unless you are a guest of the hotel.   Sorry, it would be SO crowded!
  • Sorry – there is no day rate for the pool, you must be a hotel guest to use the pool.
  • Yes! It is totally splurge worthy!   I fully appreciate a budget, our family was invited to a sneak peek as part of the promotion for the hotel, but that does not mean that I do not appreciate that it is a moderate – upscale cost.   This certainly is not the least expensive hotel choice available, but if you are looking for something extra special and able to splurge this is well worth the additional cost!   It is an amazing hotel with the most gracious staff and I can assure you – I have never seen anything like it!
  • Yes!   We have a LEGOLAND giveaway coming soon! Hold your horses! 😉

A HUGE thank you to the entire LEGOLAND team!   You outdid yourself for sure!   Thank you so much for treating our family to a vacation they will cherish forever!

*Disclosure* Our family received a one night sneak peek stay at The LEGOLAND Hotel as well as meals prior to the Grand Opening as part of their media preview event.   All opinions are always our own.   Photographs are my own unless otherwise credited.
