2/7 – OCEANSIDE: Visit the California Surf Museum (FREE 2/7; otherwise $5 per adult)

Open daily 10am-4pm and Thursdays until 8pm, enjoy learning about the heritage and art of surfing. From the history of how surfboards evolved over the years to how San Diego has uniquely influenced the sport, this museum will offer an amazing experience. You’ll even see the surf board of Soul Surfer’s Bethany Hamilton who lost her arm to a shark bite in Kauai with a big bite taken out of it!

Hello beautiful North County San Diego summers. The month of July is when we start spending more time outdoors with friends and loved one. We’ve got three fun ideas for you to enjoy this month.

 

Sunday Summer Concerts by the Sea 

Looking for a new way to spend a summer evening that won’t cost you a dime? Head on over to Moonlight Beach in Encinitas for Sunday Summer Concerts by the Sea from 3-5pm. Check out the summer lineup as there will be a variety of bands ranging from rock/funk, 60’s, and reggae.

Lake Poway Family Campout 

Is a campfire, some delicious s’mores, and sleeping under the stars calling your name? Well, you are in luck. Lake Poway is hosting a family campout! Join in the fun the weekend of July 11-12 for some outdoor fun for the whole gang. Partake in a guided night hike and enjoy a delicious continental breakfast. This is what summer is all about!

San Dieguito County Park 

July is the perfect month to fire up those grills and picnic in the park. Looking for the perfect spot to do so? Check out San Dieguito County Park in Del Mar – a 125-acre park featuring a variety of recreational activities including playgrounds, exercise stations, a basketball court, large open lawn and picnic areas as well as BBQ’s and restrooms.  The park is open daily from 9:30am-sunset.

Hello September! Where did this year go? Kids are back in school & summer is over but that doesn’t mean there isn’t a bunch of fun stuff in store for you here in North County. Check out these fun & mostly free events in September.

9/6 Grape Day Parade & Festival  – Escondido

Jump in that barrel and start stomping at the Grape Day Festival and Parade in Escondido on Sept. 6th! After you are all stomped out, enjoy entertainment, contests, gourmet food trucks, and a wine and craft beer pavilion. Oh, and did we mention free grapes?!? For early birds, grab your running shoes and participate in a 5k run encompassed by marching bands and historic cars at 7:30am prior to the festival.

9/19-9/21 Carlsbad Music Festival

Don’t miss the 11th Annual Carlsbad Music Festival from Sept. 19-21! Experience world-class performers and composers right in the heart of the ever-so-charming Carlsbad Village. The Festival has not only been praised by local media, but national media as well  including the Los Angeles Times who claimed the festival as “magnificently enlightening.” This is definitely something that is “note-worthy.” Don’t miss it! 9/27-9/28  Oceanside Harbor Day

Cruise on over to the Oceanside Harbor on 9/27-28 for Oceanside Harbor Days featuring arts and crafts, great food and fun activities for the entire family! Alga Norte Community Park

It’s time to treat your puppy to some summer fun!  Take your furry friend to the newest  off-leash dog park around town!  The dog park at Alga Norte Community Park, which just opened December 2013,  is divided into areas for larger and smaller dogs. The park even  includes obstacle course play equipment for your dog to test out and show off some tricks!
