Taylor Guitar Factory Tours (FREE)
This one was inspired by my 7 year old who loves to rock out on his guitar. His guitar teacher highly recommended the tour and best part, it is free! Every Monday through Friday at 1PM (does not include holidays) free guided tours are offered. They last around one hour and 15 minutes and can be slightly technical in nature. The tour will show the process of how guitars are constructed, from raw wood to the final instrument. There is also a store if you are interested in purchasing Taylor items.

San Diego Festival of Science and Engineering (FREE)
Festival week at PETCO Park kicks off on Saturday, March 4th from 10am to 5pm, and will continue daily through March 12th. Expo day is the largest, signature event of the week and will take place on March 4th. Expo day will feature an interactive, hands-on setting provided by over 130 local organizations, business and corporations. In addition there will be technology, engineering and math activities and exhibits. Following this, beginning March 5th-March 12th, will be fun involved days of interaction, learning and behind-the-scenes activities. Be on the lookout for Fireside Chats at the Mercado. These are a version of a mini-Ted talk around the Mercado fire pits where the audience is invited to participate in discussion, Q & A and extended conversation. Sounds like the perfect way to make STEM fun for the youngest and oldest members of the family!
Lunch tip: Kids meals are $6 at the park but for FREE you are permitted to bring your own lunch!
