2/7 – OCEANSIDE: Visit the California Surf Museum (FREE 2/7; otherwise $5 per adult)

Open daily 10am-4pm and Thursdays until 8pm, enjoy learning about the heritage and art of surfing. From the history of how surfboards evolved over the years to how San Diego has uniquely influenced the sport, this museum will offer an amazing experience. You’ll even see the surf board of Soul Surfer’s Bethany Hamilton who lost her arm to a shark bite in Kauai with a big bite taken out of it!

 2/12 – ESCONDIDO: Interpretive Walk at Elfin Forest Recreational Reserve (FREE)

If you missed the first walk of the year, join Donna Walker, a native San Diegan on Sunday, February 12, 10am to 11:30am, and explore the Elfin Forest Recreational Reserve to increase your appreciation and knowledge of the native plants, animals, and history of the Reserve. Most walks last for an hour-and-a-half and cover less than one mile of easy terrain. Meet at the Interpretive Center. 2/15 – CARLSBAD: Carlsbad Film Series: Lost in Translation R (FREE)

Bob Harris (Bill Murray) is a past his prime actor who forms an unlikely bond after crossing paths in Tokyo with a neglected young wife (Scarlett Johansson). Both are bewildered by cultural, social, and relationship disconnect they face but friendship needs no translation. Movie special features begin at 5:30pm. 2/15 – ENCINITAS: NASA Solar System Explorer’s Club: Landing on Mars (FREE)

Welcoming the young and young-at-heart, on Wednesday, February 15 from 3:30pm-5pm, join Dr. Susy Kurtik and the NASA Solar System Explorers Club to learn about space exploration. Experience it first hand with a real telescope pointing towards Mars! Plus you’ll learn how to land a rover on Mars and how to design and build parachutes.

2/25 – ENCINITAS: Zero Waste Workshop (FREE)

On Saturday, February 25 from 10am-12pm, join I Love a Clean San Diego for an opportunity drawing for great prizes and to learn how to reduce your waste when making snacks, eating out, giving gifts and more! This event will be educational and fun – decorate a reusable produce bag and enjoy a kids’ craft corner.
